AIDS in Africa Spreading rampant throughout the African continent, AIDS is killing any and all who cross its path. â€Å"As the death toll from AIDS recedes in America, Africa is reeling from an epidemic of Biblical proportions. South of the Sahara, AIDS is worse than anywhere else in the world, and this catastrophe is transforming the continent forever† (Schoofs part 5). Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, better known as AIDS â€Å"is a virus that weakens the immune system and subjects the patient to opportunistic diseases such as pneumonia and tuberculosis. The virus is transmitted through the exchange of body fluids, primarily semen, blood, and blood products†¦it can be prevented by having protected sex†¦AIDS is a problem throughout the world, especially in sub-Saharan Africa† (DeSalle 238). It is an unbiased killer that threatens the African population. With very little education, parentless children, and cultural and societal beliefs, AIDS continues to run havoc on th e continent of Africa. â€Å"Only 10 percent of the world's population lives south of the Sahara, but the region is home to two-thirds of the world's HIV-positive people, and it has suffered more than 80 percent of all AIDS deaths†Ã¢â‚¬ ¦Last year, the combined wars in Africa killed 200,000 people, and in sub-Saharan Africa alone 3.8 million people became infected with the disease while another 2.4 million died; totaling 25.3 million people who are living with AIDS in Africa (Schoofs part 1, Carey). One main reason for the severity of these numbers is due to the lack of education of the African people. With little or no education, people do not truly understand the consequences of unprotected sex and sex with multiple partners. African girls are not sent to school because it is too expensive and most are only going to get married and have children. The males who go to school learn that they are the breadwinners of the family and that they control what goes on in the house. The lack of education poses an astronomical problem in Africa and is the major reason for the spread of AIDS. Since people are uneducated about birth control, they do not use condoms; those who are aware of it either do not have access to condoms or cannot afford them. Without education or access to condoms, AIDS will continue its devastation throughout the African continent. â€Å"In apartheid South Africa, blacks were either not educated at all or taught only enough to be servants.

Boy and Man Convicted of Stealing John Trenchard and Elzevir Block, tricked into jail by false honesty By: Sierra Volpe John Trenchard, now 29 years of age, was sentenced to jail for life when he was tricked into false identity along with Elzevir Block, now dead. According to Sir Aldobrand, old merchant, John and Elzevir were attempting to steal a very gracious diamond that John claimed to be â€Å"his†.Now, what we found out was a behind the scenes exclusive. John and Elzevir went on a great, long heroic journey in order to find Blackbeard’s treasure. They went from being wanted of false murder, to being rich with Blackbeard’s, said to be â€Å"cursed†, diamond, then to being wanted again and sentenced to life. Fifteen to fourteen years ago, John was at Elzevir’s side while he was about to kill Magistrate Maskew on the undercliff of Moonfleet Bay.A few gun shots went off and Maskew got shot in head and John got shot in the foot which caused a break in his leg, forcing him through tough struggle’s like trying to walk up the Zig-Zag, being disguised as sailors to get to England and to Sir Aldorand, and stayed in the cave where they found kind of a clue of how to get to their next destination: the castle.According to my research it was said that John was being carried down the well in the castle and exactly 80 feet into the well they found the â€Å"cursed† diamond. So I just proved to you, with all the imformation from Detective Lucas, that John and Elzevir were NOT guilty. Aldobrand clearly lied and tricked the judge into sentencing them to jail just so he could have the diamond all to himself.

Character Analysis of Romeo Romeo and Juliet is a tale of two star-crossed lovers who in their love for each other were willing to sacrifice their lives. Romeo is a very temperamental person; his character develops considerably throughout the play in various ways. In this essay I shall be looking closely at Romeo’s character, his intentions abilities and his relationship with other characters in the play. In the conversation between Benvolio and Montague in act 1 scene 1, we learn that Romeo is behaving strangely and avoiding his friends, â€Å"Towards him I made, but he was ware of me and stole into the covert of the woods.† In this sentence Benvolio is explaining to Lady Montague that when†¦show more content†¦Meaning that she does not love him and she has Dian’s wit. Dian is the goddess of hunting and chasity, she avoids Cupid’s arrows ; from this we learn that Rosaline has no intention of loving him or any other man. This is further proven when Romeo confirms Benvolio’s question that she has sworn to remain a virgin. Romeo goes on to say that his love is misplaced because Rosaline has rejected him. Romeo compares his love to Rosaline as a devote religion. His words seem mature which belies his actions, which is often irresponsible and immature. Even when his love has been rejected, Romeo still feels heavy with the burden of love. His friends didn’t take his love seriously, they thought it was humorous, silly and later on exasperating. Romeo is hurt by Rosaline ‘s rejections and perhaps by his friends’ indifference towards his love. We learn this when he quotes â€Å"†¦ love pricks like thorn†¦Ã¢â‚¬ . But Mecrutio does not feel melancholy about love. He views love in a physical sense more than emotional, he advises rather crudely â€Å" If love be rough with you, be rough with love†. Romeo’s actions and words in act 1 scene 5 make us doubt if he has been in love at all, or just thinking pretending to be in love. He himself doubts it â€Å"did my heart love till now?
